So before we begin in the actual skills of self defense, you know, as I was thinking about this whole program and the reason I was making it, I couldn't help but wonder why more people don't learn self defense or don't try to defend themselves. And some of the things that I've uncovered in the research are especially related to fear. The fear of not knowing when to actually defend one's self. The fear that the actual threat might be inaccurate. In other words, "the person is really not threatening me, I may be overreacting." And if I overreact, and if I'm wrong, and I defend myself, number three is, "will I get sued as a result of defending myself and that person thinking I did it wrongly?" And number four, "what if I try to self defend and I'm not prepared? I don't know what to do correctly and therefore I may do it wrongly, and if I do it wrongly, I may escalate the situation and cause more harm to myself or my family." We need to get rid of these fears, I believe, before you can truly enter into a place where you can buy into these tactics that are designed to be easy to remember, that we've designed to be always refreshing in your mind based on scenarios that could happen. And that are simple enough that you don't have to train every day of your life, or even two to three days a week in a gym to be able to master the effective skills of self defense. Let's get started.
