It's actually kind of a baiting strike, so that they force their face to the other side to escape the elbow strike, only making it more possible for me to do a direct hit with my opposite elbow. So we're really striking and then counter-striking with the other. Chances are this is gonna make them release. If I can, I may do a groin shot with the hammer first. Bending my opponent over, and now knee to the face. If they don't collapse, another knee strike to the face and retreat. Now this skill really flows well, especially for home practice. It's gonna be best for your training partner to have the target mitt for us to practice our elbow strike to one side because they can easily move it to the other side for a second elbow strike. What's nice is that your training partner has the thai pad already in position, so as he releases his grip I can do the hammer first strike at full blow here, to the groin shot. As he bends over, he can double up his hands to give me more resistance to practice with. I'm gonna do it hard, here. Knee! Knee! And then practice your retreat. So again, skill practice is like this. We do elbow strike, elbow strike, fist to the groin, knee strike, knee strike, and retreat.
In this scenario, an aggressor grabs you from behind with your arms out. You can squat down and deliver and elbow strike to one side and then the other. If the person releases, then give a hammer fist strike to the groin and escape.
