Now let's take a look at a two person box lift. When lifting a box with two people, we need to think about the object. Plan the lift, and think about how heavy it is. If it's too heavy for a single person to lift, can we lift it with a lifting device? If it's too heavy for two people to lift, can we get a device to lift it with? If we're not able to do that when we call it a second lifter, be sure to use good partner techniques and good ergonomic procedure to lift this object properly. Choose the person who will control the lift. Use proper lifting techniques using your legs for the lift. Keep your back straight and your head up. To help keep the back straight, and then after discussing the destination and the route to be taken in order to deliver the object, the chosen controller will organize the lift. They'll say something to the effect of: "on three let's lift the box and then set it on the cart over by the door. On the count of three, ready? One, two and three." And the object is lifted. Keeping the load close to your bodies. Take small and controlled steps to deliver the object safely. Walk carefully so that each person can have a clear site of travel.
