These forms of sexual violence are among the most underreported crimes in both the United States and the world due to the intensely difficult nature of the crimes. Understanding the various forms of sexual violence, the concept of consent, and the short- and long-term impacts of sexual assault on individuals, families, and communities is essential to preventing this form of violence.

Upon completion of the course, you will be able to do the following:

  • Identify the extent of rape and sexual assault in the United States and globally.
  • Define sexual violence, rape, sexual assault, sex trafficking, and female genital mutilation.
  • Describe common symptoms typical of survivors of sexual assault.
  • List risk factors associated with sexual violence.
  • Describe common types of sexual offenders.
  • Relate key factors to consider in sexual assault assessment, documentation, and treatment (including emergency contraception and emotional support for victims).
  • Identify key issues in forensic evidence collection.
  • List key strategies to prevent sexual assault.

Complete the course post exam (CE Test) with a score of 80% or greater. Complete all fields of the course evaluation form. Certificate of Completion is provided once the course post exam is passed per criteria above.
