Arizona is a unique and special state, and it’s one of the states that has recently seen a surge of support for online-based CPR certification in recent years.

  • Child Care Providers in Arizona are required to have an Adult, Child, and Infant Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid certification.
  • The Arizona Department of Health and Services, Child Care Licensing requires a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification and First Aid for licensing. Required training should include; Adult, Child, Infant (Pediatric) CPR, AED, and First Aid.
  • A practical (hands-on) skills component is required by the state or by your Child Care facility or Daycare center to maintain employment.
  • Most employers will require a Lay Rescuer CPR, AED, and First Aid certification for all ages.

Child Care Providers in Arizona usually need a Lay Rescuer CPR, AED certification. Required training should include; Adult, Child, Infant (Pediatric) CPR, AED and First Aid with a practical (hands-on) skills component.



Delivery Method

Child Care Providers in Arizona are required to maintain Adult, Child, Infant (Pediatric) CPR, AED and First Aid that includes a practical skills evaluation through in person or blended training process. A 100% online CPR will only be an option upon the discretion of the employer. If you are not certain of your employer's requirement, make sure to check with them about both the training type and the required course content.

Board Statement:

R9-5-403. Training Requirements
E. A licensee shall ensure that a staff member required by R9-5-301(G) meets all of the following:
1. The staff member obtains first aid training specific to infants and children,
2. The staff member obtains CPR training specific to infants and children, which includes a demonstration of the staff member’s ability to perform CPR,
3. The staff member maintains current training in first aid and CPR, and
4. The staff member provides the licensee with a copy of the front and back of the current card issued to the staff member upon completing first aid and CPR training as proof of completion of the requirements of this subsection.
