Arizona is a unique and special state, and it’s one of the states that has recently seen a surge of support for online-based CPR certification in recent years.

  • Coaches in Arizona are required to have an Adult, Child, and Infant Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid certification.
  • The Arizona State Board of Education requires a Lay Rescuer CPR, AED certification. Required training should include; Adult, Child, Infant CPR, AED, and First Aid.
  • An online course is accepted in Arizona for Coaches.
  • A (hands-on) practical skills component may be required by your local school district to maintain employment.
  • Most employers will require a Lay Rescuer CPR, AED, and First Aid certification for all ages

H. Athletic coaching certificate
The standard certificate entitles the holder to perform coaching duties in interscholastic and extracurricular athletic activities. It is not required for Coaches who hold a valid elementary, secondary or special education certificate.
The requirements are:
a. Valid certification in first aid and Coronary and Pulmonary Resuscitation (CPR);
