  • Child Care Providers in Missouri are required to have an Adult, Child, and Infant Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid certification.
  • The Missouri Department of Elementary & Secondary Education requires a cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) certification and First Aid for licensing. Required training should include; Adult, Child, Infant (Pediatric) CPR, AED, and First Aid.
  • A practical (hands-on) skills component is required by the state or by your Child Care facility to maintain employment.
  • Most employers will require a Lay Rescuer CPR, AED, and First Aid certification for all ages.

Child Care Providers in Missouri usually need a Lay Rescuer CPR, AED certification. Required training should include; Adult, Child, Infant (Pediatric) CPR, AED and First Aid with a practical (hands-on) skills component.



Delivery Method

Child Care Providers in Missouri are required to maintain Adult, Child, Infant (Pediatric) CPR, AED and First Aid that includes a practical skills evaluation through in person or blended training process. A 100% online CPR will only be an option upon the discretion of the employer. If you are not certain of your employer's requirement, make sure to check with them about both the training type and the required course content.

Board Statement:

5 CSR 25-500.102 Personnel
(1) General Staff Requirements.
(T) The licensee shall have documentation on file at the facility of current certification in age-appropriate first aid and cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) training for a sufficient number of child care staff to ensure that there is one (1) caregiver at the facility for every twenty (20) children in the licensed capacity. At least one (1) caregiver with current certification in age-appropriate first aid and CPR must be on site at all times when children are present.
