  • Coaches in Maryland are required to have an Adult, Child, and Infant Pediatric CPR, AED and First Aid certification.
  • The Maryland Department of Education requires a Lay Rescuer CPR, AED certification. Required training should include; Adult, Child, Infant CPR, AED, and First Aid.
  • An online course is accepted in Maryland for Coaches.
  • A practical (hands-on) skills component may be required by your local district to maintain employment.
  • CPR certification requirements are decided by the individual School Districts upon employment.

.04B(3) “All coaches shall have completed or be enrolled in a one-credit course in the prevention and care of athletic injuries.”
7.COMAR 13A.05.05.09 states one certified person in CPR shall be available on site at all school sponsored athletic events.
