Workplace Bloodborne Pathogens
In this Introductory section of your workplace bloodborne pathogens course, we'll be breaking down some of the things you can expect to learn in the course: how to protect yourself or other employees from getting bloodborne diseases, what potential diseases you could get by coming into contact with blood and other bodily fluids, and what to do if someone at your workplace comes into contact with blood and bodily fluids. Then we'll get into some specifics of how bloodborne pathogens are spread.
In this section of your workplace bloodborne pathogens course, you'll be learning about specific diseases -- HIV and AIDS, Hepatitis B virus, Hepatitis C virus, and skin diseases. We will be specifically introducing you to some important statistics, the signs and symptoms of each, some important takeaways to keep in mind, along with some additional information on each that you may find useful.
This section of your workplace bloodborne pathogens course deals entirely with work practices that you can take to limit your exposure to infectious diseases. You will learn about regulated waste, body fluid cleanup, glove removal, proper handwashing techniques, and exposure incident and reporting. While some of the lessons may appear elementary, they are nonetheless vital to ensuring a safe workplace.
