Are Your Air and Water Safe? How Air and Water Quality Affect Health
3.0 Contact Hours
The quality of the air we breathe and the water we drink is essential to our overall well-being, our economic prosperity, and the environment. Clean air and water play an important role in maintaining our health, and contaminants in either one or both can impact our well-being and lead to the development of many diseases. In high enough concentrations, these contaminants can be fatal. Creating optimal healing environments requires close attention to air and water quality.
Human Health and Climate Change—Is There a Connection?
2.0 Contact Hours
Numerous independent researchers and scientists all across the world know that Earth is warming and human activity is the primary cause. Is Your Home Hazardous to Your Health?
2.0 Contact Hours
While most of us consider our home a place of safety, the products we use every day and the communities in which we live can be causing our health to suffer. Common everyday items and medications can prove toxic to ourselves, our families, our pets, and the environment. In addition, the way our house and neighborhood is designed and built can either improve or degrade our health and the health of our communities. By knowing how our home and neighborhood can impact our health and knowing what is in our homes, we can empower ourselves to improve our health as well as the health of our families and our community.
The Global Health Impacts of Overpopulation
2.0 Contact Hours
The term "overpopulation" is not a common topic of conversation between citizens or among politicians. Yet, overpopulation is now considered to be the biggest threat to the future of the planet. Because the world's population is growing at an alarming rate that has never been experienced before in history, those of us here today must consider the serious health and environmental implications of continued growth. The Earth is not expanding and resources are limited.

Every day, in everything we do, we interact with our environment. Whether it is drinking water, breathing our air, eating food raised from the earth, or dealing with weather and seasons, our health is supported by the health of our planet. The connection between protecting the natural environment and safeguarding human health has been recognized for a long time. Exposure to harmful chemicals, air pollution, and biological agents on the human body can dramatically affect our health and the health of the entire planet. Increasingly, climate changes and the strains of a growing human population put all life on earth, including human life, in peril. Preserving the variety of life on earth is also essential to human health. Understanding how human health and environmental health are connected is the focus of this certificate program.
