\"Hazard<\/a>Hazard communication (Hazcom) is the second most frequently cited standard<\/a>, according to OSHA. The list is created following inspections of worksites by federal OSHA.<\/p>\n

Hazcom Training Frequency<\/h2>\n

Hazard communication training only needs to be conducted when employees are assigned to work with a hazardous chemical<\/strong>. Please be sure to conduct your hazard communication training with each new hire as part of on-boarding.<\/p>\n

Additional Hazard Communication Training<\/h2>\n

If you introduce a new physical or health hazard into the work area, additional training is required.<\/strong> This does not apply to a new chemical if it has hazards similar to existing chemicals for which training has already been conducted.<\/p>\n

However, when a new chemical hazard is introduced into the employee’s work area, and the employees have not been previously trained about it, you must provide effective information and training for these new chemicals.<\/p>\n

Your information and employee training may be designed to cover categories of hazards or specific chemicals. Hazards include, for example, flammability and carcinogenicity.<\/p>\n

Labels and safety data sheets must always be available with chemical-specific information.<\/p>\n
